  Bronze Age Urn discovered in one of the mounds in Ashton Valley Codford now in Devizes Museum.
  The Codford Chalice [Medieval]  was in St Mary’s Church & part of the Wiltshire Church Jewels featuring in the inventory made in the reign of Edward VI in 1553. Now for safekeeping in Salisbury Cathedral
  Saxon Cross Shaft St Peter’s Church  one of the most important pieces of Saxon sculpture  in Britain. Possibly dating from 9th Century. Importance is that Codford’s name is thought to stem from Codan Ford- the ford of a man called Cod[d]a . This goes right back to the origins of the present settlement.
